The article describes a proof-of-concept study published in Gastroenterology by researchers in the laboratory of Melius Co-Founder & Chief Non-Executive Science Advisor, Dr. Deanna Gibson, at UBC Okanagan. The research demonstrated how beneficial bacteria can be engineered to thrive in an inflamed gut by using a byproduct of inflammation as a energy source.

These findings represent an important milestone in the scientific development of Melius' lead product candidate, MMB-003, which is currently being advanced toward first-in-human clinical evaluation in Australia.
